A strong performance at home: Kim shines with 21 points

Eczacıbaşı VitrA displayed an impressive performance against Beşiktaş today in their first derby of the 2019-2020 season.

• While the experienced middle blocker Lauren Gibbemeyer who is playing her second season with the orange and white jersey made a great 2019-2020 season debut, the Serbian star Tijana Boskovic who attended the CEV’s European Volleyball Gala in Sofia, Bulgaria yesterday, and Yasemin Güveli who will be joining the team next week as she is recovering a slight ankle injury were not in today’s roster. 
• Eczacıbaşı VitrA fan group ‘Tigers’ didn’t forget to welcome their legendary player and ex-captain Büşra Kılıçlı today as they gave her flowers before the game. 

Key Moments

• In the first set, Tigers came out strong with the captain Yeon Koung Kim leading the team in aces and and attack (8 pts, 3 aces, 5 attacks). Also Lauren Gibbemeyer did a great job in the late parts of the set.
• Starting with a 8-0 streak at the beginning of the second set, the team continued its rise by doing a great job in defense and serving. Especially during the break points and long rallies, the experienced setter Gamze Kılıç was on the stage showing a great effort in taking out the best out of her spikers and keeping the team spirit high in defense. 
• Not to mention their contributions in defense and reception, Natalia Pereira, libero Simge Aköz and Melis Durul obviously carried the team through all sets. Scoring a total of 12 points, Natalia Pereira left her place to the young spiker Saliha Şahin at the end of the third set which we won by 25-19. 
  Defending the home court well with the help of their experienced players today, Eczacıbaşı VitrA ladies will continue their long league marathon after a day off.

Next Tuesday, October 29, Tigers will be looking for a road win against Galatasaray HDI Sigorta at 15:00 local time. The game will take place in Burhan Felek Volleyball Hall and be broadcast live on TRT Spor 2.
