At her post-game interview, captain Simge Aköz dedicates their win to all health personnel out there who have been working during the pandemic.
Simge Aköz: “First of all, I should say that we have really missed it. Probably it has been about 6-7 months that we haven’t played such a competitive match. And we have really missed this.
We are a young team. Moreover, it is a great achievement for us to lead the game by 2-0 first and then come back strong in the fifth set and manage to win by 3-2. It is a huge success for us to start the season by winning the Cup. All my teammates gave their best and we brought out a great performance as a team.
We would like to dedicate this achievement to all the health personnel out there who have been working for our safety day and night. They have made great efforts for us. So we wanted to give this back to them on court. Let this trophy be a gift to them!”
