An important win in Bursa with 23 pts by Tijana

Leaving behind an important step in Bursa today, the team goes on their 2019-2020 Turkish League campaign with a 3-1 win against Nilüfer.
Pre-game
- Showing that we as Eczacıbaşı Sports Club family share the despair of whole Turkey and send our good wishes to the ones who have been affected by the earthquake in Elazığ which happened last Friday, Eczacıbaşı VitrA players wore black t-shirts with “Geçmiş Olsun Türkiyem” (We feel for you Turkey) written on them at the ceremony and played with black ribbons on their jerseys today.
Match Report
- The game started very even for both teams. With a balanced attack performance, the team could have actually taken the lead step-by-step. Yet the home team came out stronger and managed to claim the first set by 28-26 which offered us some delightful rallies and defenses from both sides.
- Coming back stronger in the second set, Tigers managed to take the lead quickly with the help of middle blocker Lauren Gibbemeyer and setter Gamze Kılıç’s contributions after being substituted.
- Tijana-Hande-Natalia trio’s offensive efforts and the team’s consistent block and defense performance were the keys to claim the third set by 25-18.
- Despite the 5-1 loss at the beginning of the final set, the team quickly managed to find back their rhythm after the time-out. From then on Eczacıbaşı VitrA ladies stayed firm until the end of our Bursa chapter, finishing the fourth set by 25-15 and going back home with an important 3-1 win in our pockets.
- Today’s top scorers were Tijana Boskovic (23), Hande Baladın (16) and Natalia Pereira (16).
On our next game we will be hosting Karayolları on Saturday, February 1, at 19.30 in Eczacıbaşı Sports Hall.
