The team will play with VakıfBank tomorrow at the 2020 AXA Sigorta Champions Cup.
Having made a powerful start into the season last week by finishing Kupa Voley’s group stage unbeaten, the team is now preparing for their upcoming AXA Sigorta Champions Cup match against VakıfBank which is formerly known as the Super Cup match.
Seeing their match on September 9 as the first final clash of the season, our experienced head coach Marco Motta says, “We have won the last two editions of the Super Cup which we once again played against VakıfBank. Despite having undergone a profound transformation of our group as we have seven new players in the team, I think we have shown an evolution in our game dynamics as a team. For the work done so far, I can assure our fans that we have a team with great capacity for improvement during this season with young, talented and motivated players who will work hard during the season to improve the performance of our team."
The team has been working relentlessly says captain Simge Aköz and adds, “We have started the season well. Before our Turkish League campaign begins, we want to keep our motivation high by winning the Champions Cup title. Games between Eczacıbaşı VitrA and VakıfBank have always been exciting and highly competitive. Once again we will play against a strong team. But our team is dynamic and powerful team as well. I believe we will deliver an enjoyable match to volleyball fans.”
The recordholder of Champions Cup, Eczacıbaşı VitrA has won the title four times so far. If we clinch another title in this edition, we will be back-to-back champions for the third consecutive year.
The AXA Sigorta Champions Cup will take place this Wednesday, Sep. 9, at 19.00 in Burhan Felek Volleyball Hall, İstanbul.
As part of the measures taken against the coronavirus, the game will be played behind closed doors. There will be live broadcasting on TRT Spor 2.
