On Thursday evening we are back in Champions League action with Fenerbahçe Opet hosting us in Burhan Felek Volleyball Hall. Here is all you need to know before the Turkish derby!
Last time we met
Twice we have faced Fenerbahçe Opet this season, and twice we have claimed a challenging yet epic five-set victory over our powerful opponent.
The first match against Fenerbahçe Opet was in the Turkish League. The game was like a real feast of volleyball and the Serbian star Tijana Boskovic had an important share in making it ‘delicious’ as she scored a total of 36 points in five sets (5 aces, 4 blocks) with 9 of them being only in the decider set.
In our latest match-up – a five-set win over Fenerbahçe Opet in the Champions League’s Pool A – Natalia Pereira’s 26-point performance was the key as she brought in 2 aces and 4 stuff blocks as well.
Spotlight on the game
Ahead of our Champions League re-match this Thursday, the team aims at continuing our spot in Pool A which we currently lead by 11 points.
Natalia Pereira said:
“I think this match will be one of the most important matches of the season. It will be a tough game. Their team changed a little as they have a new American opposite player. We need to try everything to win this game. I hope we can do it because it is very important for us to grab those three points.”
