Simge Şebnem Aköz and Beyza Arıcı, two key players of Eczacıbaşı VitrA and the Turkish National Team, have signed a contract extension for the next two years.
Simge and Beyza have been crucial to the team in the past years and have witnessed important achievements at the Club and National level as well.
“It will be a pleasure to work with Simge and Beyza for another two years” said team manager Nalan Ural and added:
“Simge and Beyza also play for the Turkish National Team and with their talents we believe that they will have tremendous contribution to the Club in the upcoming seasons.”
Who is Simge Şebnem Aköz?
Born in 1991 in Samsun, Simge Aköz started to play volleyball when she was 7 years old.
Aköz played at İstanbul Artvin Sports Club, UPS, Yeşilyurt between 2010 and 2014, Çanakkale Belediyespor (2014-2015) and Halkbank (2015-2016) respectively.
Aköz joined the Club in the 2016-2017 season and started her Eczacıbaşı VitrA career by winning the 2016 FIVB Women’s Club World Championship, a bronze medal in the 2017 CEV Champions League and the 2018 CEV Cup. As a crucial member of the Turkish National Team, Simge has received a bronze medal in the 2017 European Championship and a silver medal in the 2018 FIVB Nations League.
In the 2018-2019 season, Aköz won the Spor Toto Champions Cup, a bronze medal in the 2018 FIVB Women's Club World Championship and the Turkish Cup.
Who is Beyza Arıcı?
Beyza was born in Izmir in 1995. Having played at Işıkkent İzmir, Seramiksan, Sarıyer Belediyespor, VakıfBank and Çanakkale Belediyespor teams, Beyza joined us in 2017-2018 season.
In 2017, Beyza won the U23 FIVB World Championship at the Turkish National Team, becoming also the Best Middle Blocker of the tournament.
In the 2017-2018 season, she displayed a remarkable performance throughout her first year where she has become the Best Middle Blocker in the Vestel Venus Sultans League and won the 2018 CEV Cup. In the 2018-2019 season, she won the Turkish Super Cup, a bronze in the 2018 FIVB Club World Championship and finally won the Turkish Cup.
Beyza continued to rise at the Turkish National Team as well. She has won a silver medal in the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Nations League.
