Eczacıbaşı Dynavit volleyball players have made their names at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games which have been postponed to summer 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic have delivered some thrilling matches as well as some stunning performances in women’s volleyball.
Making history with the Turkish Women’s Volleyball National Team as she helped her team in winning the first-ever fifth place at the Olympics in Turkish volleyball, Hande Baladın scored 55 points on 44 attacks, 8 blocks and 3 aces in total. Also, Eczacıbaşı Dynavit captain and libero Simge Aköz played a pivotal role especially in Turkey’s serve receive and floor defense.
The other captain of Eczacıbaşı Dynavit, Tijana Boskovic shone bright at the Olympics as she brought in as many as 192 points for Serbia. Winning the bronze medal, Boskovic was named Best Opposite of the Tokyo 2020 Dream Team. Also she has been the best scorer and the second best server of the tournament. Starting a new page with Eczacıbaşı Sports Club in the coming season, Serbian setter Maja Ognjenovic has been the second best setter of the tournament.
On the other hand, young opposite of the gold medalists USA, Jordan Thompson carried her team well as she scored a total of 72 points on 66 attacks, 9 blocks and 3 aces. Despite that she suffered an unfortunate injury in the group stage, Thompson joined her team back in the final stage.
