Having made a powerful start into the 2018-2019 season, Eczacıbaşı VitrA will host the Russian team Uralochka-NTMK Ekaterinburg in its first Champions Leauge game of the year.
Eczacıbaşı VitrA opened the season victoriously, winning the Spor Toto Champions Cup defeating VakıfBank 3-1. The team won all five games of the national league after the Championship Cup in straight sets and is currently the leader the Vestel Venus Sultans League. Eczacıbaşı VitrA ladies are now focused on their first game in the 2019 CEV Champions League’s Pool B, for which they continue the preparations both in Eczacıbaşı Sports Hall and in the match venue, Burhan Felek Volleyball Hall.
Our Head Coach Marco Motta shares his thoughts about the first game of the CEV Champions League, the most prestigious competition in Europe, as follows:
“Europe’s best teams are on the CEV Champions League stage. We will face two Russian and one Finnish team in Pool B. Our first clash will be against Uralochka, which is a young but traditional team in Russia. They are in good shape and won their last game against Dinamo Moscow in the Russian championship. Surely we need to start well and thrive to finish the group in the first place, so that we can claim an advantage while advancing to the quarter final stage. Therefore we should play this match with full attention. We play in the home court and we should give our best.”
The clash between Eczacıbaşı VitrA and Uralochka-NTMK Ekaterinburg will take place this Wednesday, November 21 at 7.30 pm (Turkish local time) in Burhan Felek Volleyball Hall. The game will be broadcasted live on the Turkish sports channel, Smart Spor.
