Eczacıbaşı VitrA defeats Imoco Volley Conegliano 3-0 in the first game of the 2019 CEV Champions League’s quarter finals, taking a great advantage before the the second clash in Istanbul next week.
The first of the Champions League’s “Match of the Week” started point-by-point in Palaverde, which went on with thrilling rallies and digs by both teams. Despite home team’s leadance in the first set, Eczacıbaşı VitrA came back strong with the help of Tijana Boskovic and Yeon Koung Kim’s unstoppable attacks (21-25).
Despite Imoco’s quick start to the second set, the team didn’t lose control over the game and came back in the late parts of the set with captain Jordan Larson carrying her team strongly. One of the team’s greatest weapons today, Tijana Boskovic finished the second set (25-27) after setter Ezgi Dilik’s great dig.
As their fan support grew bigger in the thrilling third set, home team Imoco led 3-0 at the beginning, yet couldn’t resist against the Oranges and Whites. Libero Simge Aköz’s performance was remarkable, as she had an important share in today’s win with her digs. Once again Tijana Boskovic finished the set (25-22) and also the match.
The home game against Imoco Volley Conegliano will be played next Tuesday, March 19, in İstanbul Burhan Felek Volleyball Hall at 5 pm.
