Eczacıbaşı VitrA defeated Galatasaray 3-2 in Week 10 of the Vestel Venus Sultans League, also extending the win streak in the national league.
Our team made a good start to the derby match with the help of our spiker Meliha İsmailoğlu’s serves (5-0). Carried by Yeon Koung Kim and Tijana Boskovic’s strong performance in attack, Eczacıbaşı VitrA won the first set 25-15.
Despite Galatasaray’s five-point lead in the second set, Eczacıbaşı VitrA managed to come back strong with the help of our experienced spiker Güldeniz Önal, who made an important contribution today after coming from the bench. The home team, Galatasaray came back and won the following two sets 25-20 and 25-21. Yet Eczacıbaşı VitrA took back control over the game in the final set and won the derby in five sets.
Yeon Koung Kim (23) and Tijana Boskovic (22) were the best scorers today.
After today’s win, Eczacıbaşı VitrA still keeps the leading position in hand despite of an unplayed game in the first half of the Vestel Venus Sultans League. Next Tuesday, December 25, our team will host Aydın Büyükşehir Belediyespor at 2 pm in our home court, Eczacıbaşı Sports Hall. The game will be broadcast live on TRT Spor.
