In the final week of the Vestel Venus Sultans League’s first half Eczacıbaşı VitrA defeated Aydın Büyükşehir Belediyespor 3-1 today and secured thereby the leading position in the league despite having an unplayed game.
Our team made a quick start into the game as our spiker Güldeniz Önal and opposite player Gözde Yılmaz made an important contribution in attack (12-2). With our young middle blocker Merve Atlıer’s remarkable performance in block we finished the first set 25-6. Our team led the game in the second set as well (25-18) where Meliha İsmailoğlu and Beyza Arıcı made an important contribution. Despite the loss of the third set (21-25), our team took back control over the game and managed to collect three points after winning the fourth set.
Gözde Yılmaz (25) and Meliha İsmailoğlu (23) were the best scorers today on our side, where Merve Atlıer scored 5 points in block.
The postponed away game against Beşiktaş will take place this Friday, December 28, at 6 pm in Burhan Felek Volleyball Hall. The game will be broadcast live on TRT Spor.
