Having defeated Nilüfer Bld. 3-0 in the AXA Sigorta Kupa Voley quarter final match, Eczacıbaşı VitrA will play against Galatasaray tomorrow at the semi final clash.
On Day 1 of 2019 AXA Sigorta Kupa Voley, also known as the Turkish Cup, Eczacıbaşı VitrA started the Finals strongly with a well-balanced team performance. Tijana Boskovic (7 pts) and Yeon Koung Kim (5 pts) had an important share in the first set as the Oranges and Whites led 25-20.
The second set went on point-by-point. With the help of Meliha İsmailoğlu’s digs, and middle blocker Büşra Kılıçlı and Lauren Gibbemeyer’s performances in the front line, the team managed to turn the set into favor. Lauren’s ace finished the second set (25-13).
Experienced spiker Güldeniz Önal fired the team with her block at the beginning of the third set. With young middle blocker Merve Atlıer contributing well, Eczacıbaşı VitrA won the final set 25-23 and secured a spot in the AXA Sigorta Kupa Voley semi finals.
In the semi final clash, Eczacıbaşı VitrA will face Galatasaray HDI Sigorta at 2 pm in İzmir Atatürk Volleyball Hall. The game will be broadcast live on TRT Spor.
