Defeating the Finnish team Hämeenlinna in the second game of the 2019 CEV Champions League, Eczacıbaşı VitrA has claimed the leading position in Pool B.
Eczacıbaşı VitrA currently leads the Vestel Venus Sultans League, finishing the ninth week undefeated. Competing successfully on the European stage without losing a set, Eczacıbaşı VitrA also claimed the leading position in Pool B after winning Hämeenlinna in straight sets.
Making a quick start into the game with the help of our captain Jordan Larson’s strong performance in serving and attack (14-0), our team won the first set (25-11). With our middle blocker Beyza Arıcı and Tijana Boskovic’s contribution in the front line, Eczacıbaşı VitrA kept control over the game and finished second set 25-20. Coming from the bench today, our spiker Meliha İsmailoğlu and young middle blocker Merve Atlıer contributed well in the final set (25-16).
Having claimed the second 3-0 win in the 2019 CEV Champions League so far, our team has become the leading team in Pool B with 6 points.
