Hosting Imoco Volley Conegliano at Round 2 of the 2019 CEV Champions League's quarter final stage, Eczacıbaşı VitrA lost in the Golden Set.
With a spectator crowd of about 2350 people in Istanbul Burhan Felek Volleyball Hall, both teams forced each other with great attacks and serves. Winning a thrilling rally after setter Ezgi Dilik’s clever tip, Eczacıbaşı VitrA came back with the help of captain Jordan Larson’s attacks yet lost the first set 21-25.
Eczacıbaşı VitrA did a fresh start to the second set with opposite Gözde Yılmaz’s powerful attacks. Two aces by Lauren Gibbemeyer and Ezgi Dilik were the key as Eczacıbaşı VitrA tied the game 11-11. The thrilling second set ended in favor of Imoco (23-25).
Leading 4-0 at the beginning of the third set, Eczacıbaşı VitrA was fueled by spiker Yeon Koung Kim’s attacks (15-12). Tijana Boskovic, who was substituted in late parts of the set, finished the set with a great attack (25-21).
Fourth set started with a great rally, which ended in favor Imoco Volley Conegliano. Despite Kim and Tijana’s powerful attacks, Eczacıbaşı VitrA lost the set 25-21.
Guest team Imoco won the Golden Set by 15-10 and become the semi-finalist.
