2018 FIVB Volleyball Nations League has come to an end after the final game played in Nanjing, China yesterday. Our National Team advanced to the VNL finals successfully by winning 11 games out of 15 in the preliminary round and has won the silver medal by displaying a stunning performance. Eczacıbaşı VitrA players made a crucial contribution to this historic success both during the preliminary round and VNL finals.
Our player Meliha İsmailoğlu scored a total of 186 points (144 attacks, 20 blocks, 22 serves), where her performance was followed by Hande Baladın who will go on loan to Galatasaray next season by a total of 161 points (141 attacks,16 blocks, 4 serves). Our setter Gamze Alikaya and our middle blocker Beyza Arıcı, who scored 23 points (6 attacks, 5 blocks, 12 serves) and 25 points (18 attacks, 6 blocks, 1 serve) respectively, contributed well to the historic success of the Turkish National Team. One of the important actors of this great achievement, our libero Simge Aköz completed the VNL finals as the second best receiver, where Meliha gained the fourth place in these standings. Simge also displayed a successful performance in defence, which led her gain the fifth place in the “Best Diggers” standings.
With an average of %42.19 successful attacks in the VNL finals, our Serbian opposite Tijana Boskovic has not only become the fifth among the “Best Spikers” but also the fourth best scorer of the final stage. During the whole tournament Tijana scored a total of 296 points (260 attacks, 27 blocks, 9 serves).
Our captain Jordan Larson contributed to Team USA by scoring a total of 172 points (133 attacks, 17 blocks, 22 serves), where she has become the best server of the VNL Finals. Lauren Gibbemeyer scored a total of 84 points (51 attacks, 27 blocks, 6 serves).
Our new player Yeon Koung Kim scored a total of 175 points (145 attacks, 21 blocks, 9 serves) during the five stages of the preliminary round.
