Eczacıbaşı VitrA seeks a second victory to secure a spot in the semis

18 March 2019

Eczacıbaşı VitrA Istanbul will host Imoco Volley Conegliano in the second round of 2019 CEV Champions League’s quarter finals.

Having won the first match in straight sets, Istanbul team Eczacıbaşı VitrA will secure a spot in the semis if they win two sets this Tuesday. If the guest team Imoco Volley Conegliano wins by 3-0 or 3-1, there will be a “Golden Set” to decide the semi finalist.

Addressing that they have analysed their opponent well in the first match, Büşra Kılıçlı, successful middle blocker of Eczacıbaşı VitrA, shares her thoughts before the second match:

“We knew that the away game would be a difficult one. Having a 3-0 win in our pockets is a great advantage for the second game. We played the first match well from the beginning until the end and were able to force them make mistakes. The second game is as crucial as the first one. Although two sets would be enough to qualify for the semi finals, we are fully focused to work hard and win this match.”

Kimberly Hill, the American spiker of Imoco Volley Conegliano, who played in Turkey for two seasons, says that she has confidence in her team and adds the following:

"It will be a very difficult match, of course, especially now playing in Turkey. But we didn’t play our best volleyball in the first game, so I think the second game will be very different. I have confidence in our team.”

The quarter final clash between Eczacıbaşı VitrA and Imoco Volley Conegliano will take place this Tuesday, March 19, at 5 pm (GMT+3) in Istanbul Burhan Felek Volleyball Hall. The game will be broadcast live on Spor Smart and the CEV’s official OTT platform, EuroVolley TV.
