Having been the guest of Çanakkale Belediyespor in western Turkey, Eczacıbaşı VitrA won 3-0 this evening. Eczacıbaşı VitrA leads the Vestel Venus Sultans League with 20.300 points after winning in straight sets today.
In the first set, our team was welcomed with a powerful start by the host team Çanakkale Bld. However, we managed to come back strong with the help of our spiker Güldeniz Önal and setter Ezgi Dilik’s nice attack sets and our middle blockers’ high performance in block and won the thrilling first set 26-24. Having carried her team strong through the whole game, Jordan Larson shone in the second set. Short after she was substituted from the bench, Gözde Yılmaz finished the second set with a penalty attack (25-11). Our team held the control over the game in the final set, as Gözde Yılmaz steered her team with her powerful attacks.
Before the game, both teams held two banners, which had slogans regarding the cancer awareness and the importance of November 24, as it is the Teacher’s Day in Turkey, today.
Eczacıbaşı VitrA’s tight schedule will continue non-stop next week. Week 7 match will take place in our home court against Karayolları on Wednesday. Meanwhile, preparing for the coming Club World Championship, which will take place in Shaoxing, China between December 4 and 9, will be one of our main focuses in the following period.
