Eczacıbaşı VitrA claims back the leading position in the league after defeating VakıfBank 3-1 today in the ninth week of the Vestel Venus Sultans League.
In front a huge spectator crowd in İstanbul Burhan Felek Volleyball Hall, our team started the derby clash strong with the help of Jordan Larson’s digs and Tijana Boskovic’s attacks. Having won the first set 25-21, Eczacıbaşı VitrA took control over the game in the second set, as our middle blocker Beyza Arıcı contributed well in the front line. Despite of the loss of third set, where Yeon Koung Kim carried the team in attack, Eczacıbaşı VitrA managed to come back strong in the fourth set (25-20) and won the derby clash 3-1.
While Tijana Boskovic (18) and Jordan Larson (17) were the best scorers on our side, Büşra Kılıçlı had an important share in today’s win, also scoring 5 points in block.
Having won the derby clash, which is also known as the “El Clasico” of volleyball in professional club level, the Oranges and Whites celebrated the 3-1 win over VakıfBank together with the fans.
