The opener set was a thrilling one for both sides. Despite libero Simge Aköz’s strong digs, the first set finished in favor of home team VakıfBank (25-23).
Middle blocker Beyza Arıcı, who was going through a recovery after the appendectomy surgery, made her Playoffs debut today. Powering the team with a stunning block performance, she had an important share in the second set’s win .Also setter Gamze Kılıç, who was substituted in the second set after Ezgi Dilik’s light injury, did a great job in setting and defense.
Captain Jordan Larson’s dig and attack performance was remarkable in the third set. With Tijana Boskovic and Yeon Koung Kim carrying the team greatly in attack, Eczacıbaşı VitrA won the third set by 25-19 and led the game 2-1.
In the fourth set, which was opened with Gamze’s ace, the team fought well in defense yet VakıfBank’s leadance at the technical time out (12-6) went on until the end of the set.
Eczacıbaşı VitrA led by 8-6 in the tie-break. With the help of Yeon Koung Kim’s great performance in the final, the team won the fifth set by 15-12.
Tijana Boskovic was the best scorer of the game with a total of 33 points. Also, Eczacıbaşı VitrA scored 16 block points in Game 1.
Finals Game 2 will be played this Friday, April 26, at 6 pm in VakıfBank Sports Palace. The game will be broadcast live on TRT Spor.
