Congratulations to our head coach, Ferhat Akbaş, who will take on the role of head coach of the Japan Women’s National Volleyball Team as the first foreign head coach in the team’s history during the national team season.
Who is Ferhat Akbaş?
Born in 1986, Ferhat Akbaş is a former volleyball player.
He started his coaching career as a volleyball statistics coach in 2004, working at Galatasaray and later at Türk Telekom Ankara. In 2011, he became an assistant coach for China’s Guangdong Evergrande Volleyball Team. He later worked with VakıfBank (2012-2015), CSM Bucharest (2017-2019), and Chemik Police (2019-2021).
The young coach led the Turkish Women’s National Volleyball Team during the 2015-2016 season and was also an assistant coach for the Japanese National Team in the 2017-2018 season.
