In the memory of Hülya Erçin, the monumental captain of Eczacıbaşı and former national player, whose contribution to our Club and the Turkish National Team was of great importance, we extend our deepest sympathies and prayers on this anniversary.
Hülya Erçin was born in 1960. She joined Eczacıbaşı at a young age through her sister Meral Babalı, who was a former player of our Club. Erçin took her first steps in the youth categories and achieved to become a member of the Eczacıbaşı women’s Volleyball Team, when she was only 15 years old. A year later, she was named to the Turkish women’s Volleyball National Team, where she had 147 appearances.
Erçin played for Milangaz for one year, which was the only season throughout her career that she played for a club other than Eczacıbaşı. In the club history, she was the player who won the highest number (15) of trophies. For that she spent many years at Eczacıbaşı Sports Club, she was the player, who worked with the monumental trainer Cengiz Göllü for the longest period of time and played with the highest number of different generations. She was a member of our team that gained the 2nd place at the CEV European Champions Cup, currently known as CEV Champions League, in 1980. After finishing her career in 1991, she continued to contribute to our Club as the Team Manager until 1996.
