Defeating Fenerbahçe Opet 3-1 in the AXA Sigorta Kupa Voley Final, Eczacıbaşı VitrA has won the trophy for the ninth time in the club history.
Having beaten Nilüfer Belediyespor 3-0 and Galatasaray HDI Sigorta 3-2 in the previous games of the tournament, Eczacıbaşı VitrA has victoriously beaten Fenerbahçe Opet 3-... in İzmir. With today’s victory being the ninth time in the Turkish Cup, Eczacıbaşı VitrA also holds the title as the team which has won the most championships.
Eczacıbaşı VitrA showed a well-balanced team performance in the first set. Captain Jordan Larson carried the team greatly in attack and defense yet the first set finished in favor of Fenerbahçe (23-25).
Responding Fenerbahçe well with great digs, Eczacıbaşı VitrA led the game 25-17 in the second set.
With Tijana Boskovic and Yeon Koung Kim, who was substituted at the end of the second set, powering the team, Eczacıbaşı VitrA resisted well against Fenerbahçe attacks and serves.
Starting fourth set with a 3-0 streak, the team kept control over the game. Tijana’s unstoppable attacks were remarkable in the final set.
Captain Jordan Larson received the trophy from the Turkish Volleyball Federation (TVF) President Mehmet Akif Üstündağ and AXA Sigorta CEO Yavuz Ölken at the award ceremony, which took place right after the game.
Tijana Boskovic, who has become the best scorer of the final clash with 23 points, has received the ‘Most Valuable Player’ award from TVF President Mehmet Akif Üstündağ.
Also, successful libero Simge Aköz, who did a great job in İzmir, and opposite Tijana Boskovic have been selected to the Kupa Voley Dream Team with regards to their performances throughout the tournament.
