Defeating Galatasaray HDI Sigorta 3-1, the team completed Vestel Venus Sultans League’s Week 21 with three points.
The team has started strongly and led the game by 12-7 in the first set after Büşra Kılıçlı scored a nice block. With the help of setter Ezgi Dilik’s clever and balanced game, home team Eczacıbaşı VitrA won the first set 25-20.
Despite guest team Galatasaray’s leadance at the beginning of the second set, the Oranges and Whites managed to take back control of the game. While Tijana Boskovic fueled her team in attack after the comeback, Lauren Gibbemeyer’s contribution of 7 points (4 attacks, 2 blocks and 1 ace) had an important share in winning the second set (25-20).
The thrilling third set ended in favor of Galatasaray (25-22).
Defense was the key of the final set as captain Jordan Larson, who did a great job today in each part of the game, and libero Simge Aköz carried their team well to a 3-1 end (25-11).
Tijana Boskovic was the best scorer with 27 points in the last derby of the regular season.
