Marco and Lauren on the pre-season preparations

16 September 2019

The team continues preparing for the 2019-2020 season campaign. Head Coach Marco Motta and our experienced middle blocker Lauren Gibbemeyer reflect on the current situation of the team and give us a quick recap of what the team has focused on in the past weeks.

Lauren Gibbemeyer:

“It feels really good to be back with the Club as I feel a lot of positive energy and a collective effort to make this team be the best we can! The main focus of training last week was to focus on defense and getting into rhythm as more people joined the group. This week will be a good opportunity for us to grow as we have a couple more friendly matches and the intensity will surely increase.”

Marco Aurelio Motta:

“The team consists of two groups at the moment. One of them are the young players who have joined Eczacıbaşı VitrA this season. By playing several friendly matches such as the ones against Leningradka, Beşiktaş and Sarıyer, they have gained experience with their new team.

The other group are the players who arrived later this summer. We have been focusing on their physical improvement since their arrival at the beginning of last week. They will also be playing some parts of the friendly matches which are scheduled for this week.

This week three other players, Tijana, Simge and Hande will arrive, so Kim will be the only missing member of our team for a while. After their arrival we’ll start to prepare for the friendly tournament in Italy. During this period of the pre-season we care about individual performances but with more players joining the team we will focus more on the team performance as well.”
