Competing in Pool B at 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship, Turkish National Team lost against China 3-0 (18-25, 23-25, 23-25) in the second game of the tournament.
Eczacıbaşı VitrA’s spiker Meliha İsmailoğlu fueled the team with her stunning aces and attacks at the critical moments, where she scored a total of 9 points (5 attacks, 1 block, 3 aces). Eczacıbaşı VitrA's middle blocker Beyza Arıcı showed a great performance where she scored 4 points (3 blocks, 1 ace) and became the best blocker of her team. Despite the loss of the game, our libero Simge Şebnem Aköz’s defences and receptions were good signifiers of the Turkish National Team’s competitive spirit on the field.
In their second game in Pool C against Trinidad and Tobago, our captain Jordan Larson and our middle blocker Lauren Gibbemeyer were on the bench, where Team USA won 3-0.
Eczacıbaşı VitrA's young star Tijana Boskovic contributed to the Serbian National Team's 3-0 win over Kenia with a total of 6 points (5 attacks, 1 ace).
In Pool C, our spiker Yeon Koung Kim scored 19 points (18 attacks, 1 ace) against Thailand yet lost 3-1 against Azerbaijan.
Our National Team will play against Bulgaria on Tuesday, October 2nd after the rest day, tomorrow. The game will be at 10.10 Turkish local time.
