The team fell 3-1 to Unet e-work Busto Arsizio in the first match of the 2021 CEV Champions League quarterfinals. The second match will take place in Istanbul on March 4.
Home team Unet e-work Busto Arsizio showed a dominant performance in the first set (25-19). However, captain Tijana Boskovic brought in as many as 6 points.
Starting the second set by a 6-1 streak, the team did a great defensive job and managed to tie the game to 1-1 with a comfortable result (25-15). With the help of setter Sladjana Mirkovic’s balanced play in the second set, Tijana Boskovic scored 5 points while Saliha Şahin, Yasemin Güveli and Madison Rigdon scored 3 points each.
Despite that we have started the third set well, Unet e-work Busto Arsizio came out stronger and managed to take the lead by 25-17.
In the thrilling fourth set, we have fought until the end, especially with Tijana Boskovic exploding for 13 points. Yet all our efforts were not enough to bring the set to the tie-break (28-26).
In the ceremony held after the match, Tijana Boskovic who is the best scorer of the match by 30 points has been awarded as the Most Valuable Player of the Match.
In the second match of the quarterfinals, we will be hosting Busto Arsizio on March 4 in Burhan Felek Vestel Volleyball Hall at 19.30.
