How would a professional volleyball player spend the day productively these days without playing volleyball? Our “Pass the Time” series continue with the young athlete Saliha Şahin sharing her life in the Covid-19 world.
Joining the “Pass The Time” campaign initially started by the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) in order to entertain volleyball fans during this period they all spend at home, we decided to ask Eczacıbaşı VitrA ladies what their daily routines are, what kind of exercises they regularly practice and how they cope up with the current situation whilst at home.

“Since this period has started, when working out at home I have been focusing on the idea that this is a good chance for me to strengthen my body. Especially, I try to keep the parts of my body strong where I have suffered injuries. Before the season has stopped, I suffered a slight hamstring injury. So I have been doing some hamstring exercises with a mini band for recovery. My home workout programme also contains a variety of exercises for my quadriceps, abs and shoulders which are parts that I need to keep strong all the time. Following the program that my coaches have prepared, I try to keep my body ready in all aspects.
It makes me happy to be with my family, siblings and kittens during this time. We spend a lot of time together during the day. After I feed my kittens and have a breakfast with my family, I start to do my home workout. The rest of my time we clean the house with my family, or usually watch movies, dramas, documentaries with my siblings. We cook, play games like tabu and okay or dance together.
It has been a tough period for all of us but we can turn it into an advantage to improve ourselves. Please respect the rules and stay home for yourself and your loved ones.”
