‘The Sultans of the Net’ to play the VNL final game

Turkish National Team will compete at the final game of 2018 FIVB Volleyball Nations League having beaten the reigning World Grand Prix champion Brasil 3-0 (25-23, 25-23,25-22).

 

Eczacibasi VitrA players played a pivotal role in the performance of their teams in the Pool B and the semi-final games of the VNL finals, where the Turkish National Team lost against the USA 3-2 and won against Serbia 3-2. While Meliha İsmailoğlu scored a total of 25 points (20 spikes, 2 blocks, 3 serves) in the last three games, Hande Baladın who will go on loan to Galatasaray for the next season, scored a total of 42 points (36 spikes, 5 blocks, 1 serve). Our setter Gamze Alikaya contributed with 1 serve while Beyza Arıcı supported the team from the bench. At the end of these three games, our libero Simge Aköz is currently number 2 among the “Best Receivers”.

 

Our captain Jordan Larson not only contributed to Team USA by scoring 28 points (20 spikes, 2 blocks, 6 serves) but also succeeded to be the best server of the VNL finals so far, while carrying up her team to the final game tomorrow. Lauren Gibbemeyer had an important share in Team USA’s proceed to the final game with her contribution of 5 points (4 spikes, 1 block) during the VNL finals. Our Serbian player Tijana Boskovic, on the other hand, was the leading scorer of her team in Pool B in both games with a total of 58 points (54 spikes, 3 blocks, 1 serve) which made her the best scorer of the VNL Final Round.

 

Turkish National Team will play against the USA in the final game tomorrow at 7 p.m. local time (2 p.m. Turkish local time).
