The team reach the Turkish Cup final

The winners of the semifinal round, Eczacıbaşı VitrA and VakıfBank will face to clinch the Turkish Cup title tomorrow.

Defeating Fenerbahçe Opet by 3-0 in the Turkish Cup semifinal match, the reigning champions of the AXA Sigorta Kupa Voley Eczacıbaşı VitrA is in the final for the 10th time.

The team currently holds the record in AXA Sigorta Kupa Voley, formerly known as the Turkish Cup, by having won 9 titles before.

Showing a remarkable defensive performance throughout the whole match, one of the captains of the Tigers, Simge Aköz reflects on the match:

“Today we fought as whole team and finished the game with a well-deserved result. Tomorrow we will play a tough match against VakıfBank. I am happy that we won today. Tomorrow we will give our best to grab the trophy once again.”

Tijana Boskovic (13) and Jordan Thompson (11) are the most scoring players of the Tigers today. Also, Elif Şahin showed a remarkable performance by bringing in as many as 10 points. The team outscored Fenerbahçe Opet by a total of 7 blocks in three sets.

Eczacıbaşı VitrA players held a banner during the ceremony to celebrate the International Women’s Day. The President of Eczacıbaşı Sports Club, Faruk Eczacıbaşı and Fenerbahçe Opet Head of Volleyball Department, Abdullah Paşaoğlu gave flowers to the athletes of both teams.

The final clash against VakıfBank will be played tomorrow, March 9, at 7 pm in Burhan Felek Vestel Volleyball Hall. The match will be broadcast live on TRT Spor 2.
