The Tigers continue their #CLVolleyW Pool D journey by a 3-0 win against the hosting team Lokomotiv Kaliningrad Region on the second day of the tournament.
The team kept it strong from the beginning with a solid performance both offensively and defensively. Alongside with Tijana Boskovic who brought in 7 points in the first set, Jordan Thompson, Beyza Arıcı and Saliha Şahin also had an important share as we gained momentum through their kill attacks and won the first set 25-20.
In the second set, the clever sets of Sladjana Mirkovic to Jordan Thompson stopped the home team from coming back and eventually win the second set by 25-19.
Keeping our control over the match, the Tigers easily took the lead in the third set. Tijana Boskovic’s consecutive jump serves were remarkable in the fourth set of which one of them turned into an ace. By winning the third set 25-17 we had our fifth victory in five games.
Jordan Thompson who scored 17 points today is selected the Most Valuable Player of the match.
With the fifth win in our pockets, we secure finishing Pool D as the first-ranked team and therefore secure a spot in the quarterfinal stage before the tournament ends.
On our last day, we will play against Dinamo Moscow tomorrow at 4 pm. There will be live broadcast on EuroVolleyTV.
