Turkish National Team has become the runner-up of 2018 FIVB Volleyball Nations League having lost the final game in Nanjing, China against the USA in five sets, 2-3 (25-17, 22-25, 28-26, 15-25, 7-15).
Eczacibasi VitrA players from both teams, who achieved to play in the final game of the inaugural FIVB Volleyball Nations League, displayed a zealous performance. While Meliha İsmailoğlu scored a total of 7 points (5 spikes, 2 serves) in the final game and finished the VNL finals as the fourth best receiver, Hande Baladın who will go on loan to Galatasaray for the next season, scored a total of 12 points (10 spikes, 2 blocks). Our setter Gamze Alikaya contributed with 1 ace while Beyza Arıcı supported the team from the bench. Our libero Simge Aköz saved her title as the second best receiver during the VNL finals, also gaining the fifth place among the “Best Diggers”.
Our captain Jordan Larson, who successfully supported Team USA on its way to the gold medal by scoring 15 points (12 spikes, 1 block, 2 serves) saved her title as the best server of the VNL finals. Lauren Gibbemeyer, who had an important share in Team USA’s proceed to the final game, supported her team from the bench.
