U16 Turkish National Team clinched the title in the U16 Balkan Championship, coming back from 0-2 yesterday against the host Serbia in the final match.
The U16s faced Romania, Greece in the group stage, Bulgaria in the semifinal and Serbia in the final of the U16 Balkan Championship, which was held between July 2 and 6 in Vranjacka Banja, Serbia. Young ladies of Turkey recorded a great result by losing only two sets in five games.
Our successful U16 Head Coach Ayhan Arın and players Dalia Wilson and Pelin Eroktay have an important share in the national team’s success, where Pelin has made us proud by winning two special awards, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and the Best Opposite Player.
Ayhan Arın shared how the U16 Turkish National Team managed to come back from a 0-2 loss and bring the trophy back home after the five-set final (22-25, 17-25, 25-8, 25-22, 15-12)
“We had the chance to observe some teams we will be facing in the European Championship. The final against Serbia was surely a tough one. But we managed to push more in serving and defense, came back from 0-2 and clinched the title after five sets. I would like to congratulate the whole team for this result.”
