Welcome Ferhat Akbaş!

Starting our preparations for the 2021-2022 season, the Club announce the appointment of promising volleyball coach Ferhat Akbaş as the new Head Coach of Eczacıbaşı VitrA.

Akbaş who won the Polish League title last season as the coach of Chemik Police will be our Head Coach starting with the upcoming season.

Commenting on his appointment, Akbaş said: “Eczacıbaşı Sports Club is the biggest volleyball club in Turkey which has left its mark on Turkish volleyball and been seen as a role model worldwide. I am very glad that I return back to my country under the roof of this institute after many years abroad. We will collaborate to convert the history of this Club full of trophies into an even brighter future with the help of a dynamic structuring and an energetic approach. We will work hard to bring new championship titles and trophies to the museum of Eczacıbaşı Sports Club.”

 

About Ferhat Akbaş

Born in 1986, Ferhat Akbaş is a former volleyball player.

In 2004, Akbaş started his coaching career as a scoutman in Galatasaray and then he continued his career at Türk Telekom Ankara. Akbaş then got appointed as an assistant coach for Guangdong Evergrande in China in 2011. He later worked for VakıfBank between the years of 2012 and 2015, for CSM Bucharest between the years of 2017 and 2019 and Chemik Police from 2019 until 2021.

Akbaş was the Head Coach of the Turkish Volleyball National Team in the 2015-2016 season and the assistant coach of Japan Volleyball National Team in the 2017-2018 season.
