At the 2023 CEV European Championship, hosted by Estonia, Italy, Germany and Belgium where top National Teams of Europe play, our players have gained a great impression with their performances.
Hande Baladın, Elif Şahin and Simge Aköz, players of the Turkish National Women's Volleyball Team, who won a gold medal both at the 2023 FIVB Nations League and 2023 CEV European Championship in the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic, left their mark on the European Championship. In addition to our Turkish players, Serbian National Team players Tijana Boskovic and Jovana Stevanović, who succeeded in making the final in the European Championship, won the silver medal and received full marks with their performances.
Hande Baladın, who has been raised at Eczacıbaşı Academy, successfully represented the Turkish National Women's Volleyball Team for years, became one of the prominent names of the tournament with a total of 53 points, including 3 serves, 44 attacks and 6 blocks. Shown as one of the most promising setters of Turkish volleyball, Elif Şahin changed the fate of the match with her critical serves and scored 17 points in the tournament with her clever pass distribution. One of our team captains, Simge Aköz, had a share in the championship with her energy at defense and her successful passing with a rate of 47% throughout the tournament.
Tijana Boskovic, one of the best in world volleyball and the other captain of our team, became the top scorer of the championship. Achieving 229 points with 199 attacks and 18 blocks, our star player carried the Serbian National Team with great success. Jovana Stevanović, who we added to our squad at the beginning of the season, had an important share for winning the silver medal with 41 attacks, 7 blocks and 48 points.
